Non-Needling Treatments

Cupping therapy

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine, using a suction technique with the cups placed on the skin. This stimulates blood flow and clears stagnant qi (energy) thereby helping to remove toxins. It is effective for pain relief and especially relaxing stiff muscles and tendons and can help with stubborn joint swelling. For the sports person, cupping is ideal both pre and post event instead of a light massage. Cupping can therefore be used as a stand-alone treatment.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort (therapeutic herb) on particular acupuncture points or meridians on the body. It is particularly warming and helps to warm, nourish and relax muscles.

Electro-acupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. Used as a treatment to restore health and well-being, and for treating pain.

Gua-Sha

Gua-sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain.
